Preparation of Strawberry jam
Strawberries
- 1 kg Strawberries
- 1 kg Jelly sugar
Wash 1 kg Strawberries, remove the stalks and cut into quarters.
Mix in a saucepan with 1 kg Jelly sugar.
Cooking
Bring to the boil slowly and simmer for 15 minutes while stirring.
If desired, strain the jam with a hand blender.
Jelly sample
Spoon some of the strawberry jam onto a small plate and chill the plate to check the consistency of the jam when cold.
If the jam is still too runny, boil down further.
Filling
- Screw-top jars
Rinse Screw-top jars with boiling water, boil the lids for 10 minutes.
Pour the jam into the jars, seal immediately and turn upside down for a few minutes.
Shelf life
For a better shelf life, the jars can be preserved in the oven.
To do this, place the jars in a bain-marie (deep tray or shallow pan) and heat at 180 °C hot air.
When bubbles start to appear in the jars (approx. 30 minutes), remove the strawberry jam from the oven and leave to cool.
