Preparation of Powidl
Preserving
- 4 kg Plums
Remove the seeds from 4 kg Plums and bring to the boil in a pan while stirring.
Place the pot in the oven without the lid and simmer at 100 °C for 1 - 2 days until the Powidl has a paste-like consistency.
Hints
Stir the powidl every few hours.
Always switch off the oven overnight and when leaving the kitchen for safety reasons.
To allow the water to evaporate from the fruit, place a wooden spoon in the oven door.
Filling
Bring the finished powidl to the boil on the stove, stirring constantly, and pour into hot rinsed jars.
Created and tested by Martin Schlagnitweit – seasonal cook, web developer and vegetable grower.
