Preparation of Elderberry syrup
Preparing elderflowers
- 3 L Water
- 80 g Citric acid
- 30 Elderflowers
Mix 3 L Water, 80 g Citric acid and 30 Elderflowers, cover and leave to stand in a cool place for 2 days.
Best in a food-safe bucket.
Filter
First strain the mixture through a cloth and then filter through a coffee filter.
(Filtering removes fine suspended particles from the batch that could later cause mold growth).
Boil up
- 3 kg Sugar
- Water
Boil the screw caps and rinse the bottles with boiling Water.
Add 3 kg Sugar to the mixture, bring to the boil and pour hot into the bottles.

After two days, strain the elder syrup through a cloth

Boil the filtered mixture with sugar
When the sugar has dissolved, the syrup becomes clear and can be bottled.
