Cucumber maki

Ingredients for 4 persons: 1 Cucumber, 250 g Sushi rice, 2 tbsp Rice vinegar, 6 leaves Nori, 1 tsp Sugar, 1 tsp Salt, Soy sauce, Wasabi paste, Pickled ginger leaves

Preparation of Cucumber maki

Cook rice

Wash 250 g Sushi rice in a sieve. Place in a pan with 500 ml cold Water and bring to the boil. Switch off the hob (reduce the gas setting to the lowest heat) and leave the rice to soak for 30 minutes.

Season rice

Dissolve 1 tsp Sugar and 1 tsp Salt in 2 tbsp Rice vinegar and spread over the rice. Leave the rice to cool.

Prepare the filling

1 Cucumber is used as the fill level. Wash the cucumber and peel according to taste. Cut into approx. 1x1cm thick strips the same length as the nori sheets.

Shape maki

6 leaves Nori (red Japanese seaweed leaves) are required. Place one seaweed leaf on each bamboo mat and spread some sushi rice on top. Place the filling at one end of the sheet and roll up. Cut the roll into 3 cm thick slices.

Serve

  • Soy sauce, Wasabi paste, Pickled ginger leaves
Serve with Soy sauce and Wasabi paste as well as Pickled ginger leaves.
